There's a lot to be said for aging gracefully by living a healthy lifestyle and complete acceptance of the aging process. However, that doesn't mean you have to lie back and watch helplessly while those inevitable crow's feet lengthen year by year. Glowing skin can be achieved at any age and qualified dermatologists can help.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. It is composed of various layers that work in concert to perform complex processes that lend to overall good health. It provides a barrier against bacterial invasion, regulates heat, provides sensation, and aids in the release of harmful toxins. That said, why do we tend to neglect our skin care duties in our quest to improve health and slow the aging process?

Dermatologist View of the Aging Process

It is widely accepted by dermatologists that up to 90% of your visible skin changes are attributed to environmental exposure. Principally, this is usually from the sun's UV rays. And while you can't hide indoors all your life, dermatologists recommend using a "broad spectrum" sunscreen that protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. There are many excellent ways to perform daily skin care routines that can provide effective solutions to the aging process. These include antioxidants, retinoic acid, peptides, alpha-hydroxy acids, and moisturizers. Additionally, as we age, our skin cells tend to hold less water. By adding a moisturizer to your skin care routine on a daily basis, you'll help to improve skin softness and suppleness. But if you enjoy the prospect of helping others achieve skin care greatness, consider a career in dermatology.

Dermatologist Career And You

There are many excellent colleges, universities, and technical schools that offer education in dermatology. Training can be fairly intensive. However by coupling your education with today's focus on health and beauty, you could be enjoying a challenging and prosperous career sooner than you think. And what could be more rewarding than helping others attain and maintain their beautiful skin.
